J.N. | I had worked on NC lathes before, so I joined Yutani hoping to work on lathes. However, even though it was the same lathe, what I did was completely different, and all I could do was measure with a micro gauge. Everything I did was new and I was confused. But I kept asking my boss for help, and even when I failed, I kept asking "please let me try," and as I started to be able to do things I couldn't do before, it gradually became more fun. |
D.T. | I also joined the company at first to work on a lathe (for cylindrical processing of rolls, etc.), but there was no one to work on a milling machine (for flat processing of plate-shaped surfaces). I hadn't worked on a milling machine for a while, including in my previous job, but I gradually remembered how to do it, and as I gradually became able to process larger parts, I started to feel a desire to do something even bigger next time. "Give me more work" (laughs). After all, larger things are more difficult, so the sense of accomplishment is greater. I think about it, and if it doesn't work, I think about it again, and repeat the process. |
J.N. | It's the same with the lathe; it's always a great feeling when you start to be able to turn larger rolls little by little. |
J.N. | In my daily work, I don't get any praise for "you did a good job" (laughs). I think it's best to learn one thing every day and go home, so I'm working hard to eliminate the things I don't understand as soon as possible. |
D.T. | I think the good thing about Yutani is that they will let you take on the challenge if you say, "Let me try it." The seniors will ask me, "Can you do this?", which really motivates me. |
J.N. | If I don't do it, it won't benefit me, and I won't remember it, so I have no choice but to do it! That's the feeling I get. |
D.T. | The atmosphere in the company is one where no one pushes work onto others or leaves it up to others. Everyone takes the initiative and finds what they can do. |
J.N. | As a team, we younger people try to take the initiative in doing things we can, such as asking older people to carry heavy objects. |
D.T. | Basically, most of the work is similar, but since the length and size vary, the process is completely different for each project. |
J.N. | This was my first time working on making each item to order, so it's difficult every time, but the joy I feel when I finish it is different. |
D.T. | If I fail, I try my best to make sure I don't fail again. I think it's all over when you lose ambition. I want to be able to do it at my best when I'm 40. There are many companies that specialize in parts processing, and the craftsmen there are fast and skilled, but I want to work hard to reach that level. |
J.N. | I want to become able to do anything and quickly become someone who is known as "Nakanishi when it comes to lathes." |
D.T. | What we look for in new members to our processing group is people with enthusiasm. |
J.N. | I would like to teach people who are ambitious and ask me anything, and if they are people who enjoy communicating with others, then I have no complaints. |
